Jackpot

I want to make sure I eke some value out of the lottery ticket I purchased for tonight’s drawing, so here is my list of unobvious things I would do with the money (assuming it’s a big jackpot and not, say, a mere physician’s salary).

I would pay someone to discreetly and quietly creep into my kitchen at night and clean everything, put everything away, and set up my coffee for the next morning.

I would give my local florist the equivalent of a MacArthur Genius Grant to study their craft. I would obviously also figure out a way to get lots of beautiful bouquets, too. (And- maybe I would start to see places that needed flowers, like the busy but slightly rundown nail salon I go to, and bring them flowers.)

I would not buy everything on my wishlists online. Rarely do I regret not buying something once it’s been in my Etsy, Macy’s, Target (etc) wishlist. Maybe something expensive and splurgy, though, like jewelry.

MasterClass subscription! Spotify premium. I might actually consider going back to school to study something I am interested in but wouldn’t want to do for work. Nutrition? Diplomacy? Dance.

I would have multiples made of the clothes I feel best in, in all the colors and/or patterns they don’t sell. I would have someone accessorize them. Is Tim Gunn available?

I would try a cold plunge! I don’t need to be rich to do that, but it feels MORE like something a rich person would do.

I would plan some trips. But I think I would plan them myself, rather than hire someone. One of the biggest points of friction for me, when it comes to travel, is budgeting time and money. So I think it would be fun to slowly and deliberately consider my moves without regard to cost, to spend a whole day finding the most underrated restaurants in Europe or the most restorative view in Alaska and plan around that.

That’s all for now. If I win, I don’t think I will tell you.
